In a strategic move to address persistent electricity supply challenges in Northern Nigeria, the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) have deepened their collaboration.
On 3 February 2026, KAEDCO’s Chairman, Mr. Aminu Suleiman, and Managing Director, Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu, led a high-level courtesy visit to NDPHC’s headquarters. They met with NDPHC’s Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, and her executive team for detailed discussions on enhancing power reliability across KAEDCO’s franchise area, which covers Kaduna State and parts of neighbouring regions.
The engagement focused on key areas: optimising power generation availability from NDPHC’s National Integrated Power Projects (NIPPs), mitigating transmission constraints, improving distribution efficiency, and fostering closer operational coordination between generation and distribution segments of the value chain.
As a federal government-owned entity, NDPHC remains a vital player in Nigeria’s power sector, managing strategic generation assets that feed the national grid. Under Engr. Adighije’s leadership, the company is prioritising plant optimisation and efficiency gains to support sector-wide reforms.
KAEDCO, serving a diverse customer base amid ongoing issues like infrastructure deficits, metering shortfalls, and revenue challenges, views such upstream partnerships as essential to overcoming systemic barriers and delivering more consistent service.
Both parties described the talks as constructive and optimistic, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration will yield measurable gains in generation, distribution, and end-user supply reliability in the short to medium term.
This engagement signals a broader shift toward integrated, results-oriented partnerships in Nigeria’s power sector—critical for bridging the gap between generation capacity and actual delivery, and ultimately supporting economic growth and industrialisation in the region.
