TD Africa Partners with Schneider Electric to Build AI-Ready, Sustainable Data Centres in Nigeria

TD Africa, West Africa’s leading technology distributor, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global energy management and automation giant Schneider Electric to develop advanced, AI-capable and eco-friendly data centres throughout Nigeria.

The agreement was announced during Schneider Electric’s Innovation Day Nigeria 2025 in Lagos, an event celebrating the company’s 25 years of operations in the country and attended by over 450 stakeholders, including government officials, industry executives, and technical experts. This year’s theme focused on “Unlocking Nigeria’s Energy Future: Policy, Innovation, and Investment.”

Under the partnership, the two companies will collaborate on next-generation data centre solutions designed for both central and edge computing environments, prioritizing energy efficiency, sustainability, and adherence to international standards. The initiative is expected to lower operating costs for businesses, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen Nigeria’s digital infrastructure amid growing demand for cloud services, artificial intelligence, and automation.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chairman of Zinox Group and representative of TD Africa, Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh, emphasized the long-term impact of the collaboration.

“This alliance underscores TD Africa’s dedication to accelerating Africa’s digital transformation,” Dr. Ekeh said. “By delivering resilient, sustainable, and AI-ready data centres, we are not only investing in cutting-edge technology but also enhancing the global competitiveness of Nigerian businesses and laying the foundation for a greener, more prosperous economy.”

The event also featured panel discussions with senior representatives from the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Rural Electrification Agency, Nigeria LNG, and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), who called for increased public-private partnerships to expedite the nation’s shift toward cleaner energy systems.

The MoU further cements TD Africa’s position as a key enabler of digital and energy advancement across West Africa, supporting Nigeria’s broader goals of building a robust, sustainable, and technologically advanced economy.
